About fifteen years ago some friends and I started signing our posts dictated but not read, or DBNR, as a bit, about how people with power casually make decisions impacting the rest of us with whatever information is on hand and without asking for more beforehand, or particularly caring how things turn out as a result, or, indeed and more literally, reading their own dictation.
So, it is fun as a poster’s defensive opening, “do not reply, I don’t care, I didn’t even read it myself.”
We got bored of the observation and moved on. It looks like the last time I did it, without much enthusiasm, was five years ago?
Little did we know.
