  2. coming up with a plausible but even more frustrating syntax for plain text markup

    bold: ddoouubbllee eevveerryy lleetttteerr, because that’s how you made letters bolder on a typewriter.

    italics are not supported, that’s what underline was for

  3. our cane plant has flowered this month after I moved it away from the sliding glass door into a distant corner and it is very, very fragrant — neato, had no idea it flowered!
