When i worked at a (non-union shop) grocery store (onion style headshot of me at 19 wearing a red apron captioned “assistant dairy manager”) my supervisor was able to buy the stale bread and spoiled produce for pennies on the dollar because she had a few pigs on the farm at home
she tried a few times to work out getting stuff to humans but it was a nonstarter on account of the complications
